10 January 2018 marked a joyous occasion for a group comprising four students and six tutors from Fajar Hidayah Integrated Boarding School (“Group”) as RHT Rajan Menon Foundation (“Foundation”) sponsored them to a day trip at Universal Studios Singapore theme park.
Fajar Hidayah Integrated Boarding School in Banda Aceh, Indonesia, is a lodging school providing education for orphans and children from underprivileged backgrounds. The opening of the school was officiated by former Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr George Yeo on 6 November 2007. The Group was selected amongst 350 students and tutors for their hard work and keenness to improve their English language ability.
The Group was in Singapore for a week for an educational visit sponsored by the English Adventure Community. This included a visit to Temasek Poly Open House and Temasek Potter centre to understand more about Singapore’s post-secondary education landscape and pottery appreciation respectively.
The objectives of the Group for this Singapore visit were to:
Support the aspirations of the children
Inspire them to continue learning the English language
Empower the children with keenness to study the English language
The opportunity to visit Singapore was a chance of a lifetime for these children. The Foundation was pleased to highlight their visit with a day trip to Universal Studios Singapore. One student, Adillah, who is 16 years old shared, “My friends and I had so much fun at Universal Studios Singapore. We did not expect a trip to the theme park and we’re very surprised. Thank you for your generous contributions, RHT Rajan Menon Foundation and also to the Foundation’s Chairman Mr Tan Chong Huat for his kind support.”
Supporting disadvantaged groups and education are two of the Foundation’s charitable causes.
